FEC TAKES FINAL ACTION ON SIX CASES
WASHINGTON – The Federal Election Commission recently made public its final action on six matters under review (MURs). In one matter, the Commission found no reason to believe there was a violation of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended (the Act). The Commission exercised its prosecutorial discretion and dismissed five other matters.
Under the law, the FEC must attempt to resolve its enforcement cases, or MURs, through a confidential investigative process that may lead to a negotiated conciliation agreement between the Commission and the individual or group. Jon Porter, Sr. was a 2008 candidate for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District. |

The Commission found no reason to believe that Robert and Judi Brennan and Bruce and Carla Cooey knowingly permitted Charles Brennan to make contributions in their names to Porter for Congress. |

Segers is a 2010 general election candidate for Oregon’s 2nd Congressional District seat. |

Smith was a 2010 primary election candidate for Indiana’s 8th Congressional District. |

SUBJECT: |
The complaint alleged that the Republican Senate Campaign Committee and Yuskewich, in his official capacity as treasurer, funded the production and broadcast of an electioneering communication and failed to disclose it to the Commission. The television advertisement primarily focused on Gary Kucinich, a candidate for the Ohio State Senate, but also identified Dennis Kucinich, a 2008 general election candidate for Ohio’s 10th Congressional District, by name and photograph. |

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is an independent regulatory agency that administers and enforces federal campaign finance laws. The FEC has jurisdiction over the financing of campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, the Presidency and the Vice Presidency.
