Thomas J. Josefiak

Mr. Josefiak was appointed to the Commission in 1985 and was the 1988 FEC Chairman. He previously served at the Commission as Special Deputy to the Secretary of the Senate. Before assuming that post in 1981, he was legal counsel to the National Republican Congressional Committee. His past experience also includes positions held at the U.S. House of Representatives. He was minority special counsel for federal election law on the Committee on House Administration, U.S. House of Representatives and served as legislative assistant to the late Congressman Silvio O. Conte.

A native of Massachusetts, Mr. Josefiak graduated from Fairfield University, Connecticut, and earned a J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center.

Mr. Josefiak served on the Commission until December 1991.
